The Devonshire Arms in Hartington, Buxton, has reopened following our transformational, £620,000 investment with multiple operator, Chris Hannon’s Coastal & Country Inns as new Landlord.

This stunning, grade II listed building is perfectly located in the picturesque market village of Hartington. In the heart of Derbyshire’s Peak District, the pub is surrounded by some of the best walking countryside in the UK.

The Devonshire has undergone major renovation, with a full internal refurbishment. Toilet facilities have been relocated to the upper floor, creating a more open and inviting space for guests to enjoy. The pub now boasts three beautifully refurbished, en-suite, bedrooms. With one family suite and two spacious double bedrooms, The Devonshire is the perfect place for visitors to enjoy a relaxing break away.

Works also included a complete overhaul of the pubs garden space. Gone are the outbuildings which have been replaced with wood framed, covered seating booths and a giant chess board. A feature has also been made of the enormous Ash Tree which sits in the centre of the garden. New fixed seating surrounding the trunk and festoon lighting above has created an idyllic setting for customers to enjoy sunny days.

The Devonshire is the fifth pub for experienced, multiple operator, Chris, and his first venture with Punch. Chris and his team, led by Commercial Director Karen Boyle, have some exciting plans for the pub. Chris says ‘’We are really pleased to be at The Devonshire, the pub and rooms look fantastic. Together with Karen and the team we are really looking forward to putting The Devonshire back on the map. Creating a real destination, welcoming the local community and visitors alike to enjoy their time with us all year round’’

The pub now offers a wide range of cask, craft and world lagers to match an extensive choice of gins, premium spirits and wine. The new menu has been developed by in house chef, Iain, using locally sourced produce where possible. The menu features classic dishes like fish and chips alongside new specials, like a gin and juniper marinated salmon along with Derbyshire Wakes Cakes which are sure to popular with guests.

Speaking about the investment, Punch managing director, Andy Spencer said ‘’The Devonshire is one of our biggest investments to date, and we are incredibly pleased with the new look created. Matching this fantastic pub with our new Publican Chris, who brings a wealth of experience and expertise, will ensure the pub’s long-term success within the community.’’
