The historic Ferry pub, which overlooks the River Mersey, has reopened following a £230,000 investment by leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co.
Having temporarily closed in May, familiar faces have returned to the pub and opened its doors as it enters an exciting new chapter.
Known for its impressive views of the Liverpool skyline, relaxed atmosphere and great food and drink, the Ferry continues to be a popular destination for both locals and visitors. Publican Chris Stockton, who recently celebrated eight years at the pub, has reassured guests that while there may be a surprise or two, the pub they know and love remains the same.
“We’re thrilled to be reopening The Ferry and to have welcomed everyone back through the doors,” Chris shared. “The pub has always been a much-loved part of the community, so it’s been really important to us to keep the warm, friendly atmosphere people know and love, while giving the place a fresh new look.
“The team is really excited to be back, and we’re looking forward to this next chapter.”
Now that it has reopened, guests have rushed to celebrate their pub’s new look, praising the improvements which have retained the building’s character while giving it a fresh new feel. The investment reflects a continued commitment to the community and the pub’s role at its heart.
The refurbishment spans across the entire pub, with subtle changes to its aesthetics and décor throughout. Internally, the bar has been refreshed and a new kitchen has been installed. The first-floor dining room has also undergone a small transformation, making it an ideal space for private hire, such as celebrations and events.
The most noticeable change can be found outside. Already a popular destination thanks to its spacious setting, the outdoor area has been revitalised with new planting and lighting, creating an inviting space for guests to enjoy throughout the day and into the evening.
Importantly, while the surroundings may look a little different, the Ferry team remains unchanged. Locals and visitors alike can continue to enjoy the same warm welcome and friendly service they have come to know and love over the years.
Now that the pub has reopened its doors, Chris and the team are focusing on the busy summer season, with a packed programme of events ready to keep guests entertained throughout the months ahead.
Punch Pubs & Co Operations Manager, Neil Gazzard, said: “Chris is a fantastic Publican, who is truly proud of the pub that he runs. This investment was all about protecting the future of the pub and enhancing small areas for many years to come. Community is at the very heart of its purpose and that will never change.
“The team here are vital to this pub’s identity and I’m incredibly proud of all of them for the smooth transition as they enter a slightly new chapter. I’ve got a good feeling about this pub and I can’t wait to witness its continued success.”
