The Garricks Head on Moorside Road, Flixton, temporarily closed this July, to undergo a £237,000 investment with leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co. The popular community pub is now preparing to reopen with a completely new look.

Management Partner, Dawn Slater, has welcomed the investment with open arms and has been eagerly awaiting the transformation. She said: “The Garricks Head has been through a lot, and most areas in the pub haven’t been refreshed for 30 years. We’re so grateful for this opportunity and for Punch’s decision to invest in us, and cannot wait to see it brought back to life. I’m most excited to give back to our guests, who have supported me over the last five and a half years, a pub that they’re proud of.”

The transformation is set to totally renovate the Garricks inside and out. Starting with all new flooring, décor, lighting, fixtures and fittings, in addition to a redesigned sports area with upgraded darts board and pool table – meaning that to guests’ delight, the renowned sports and entertainment schedule at The Garricks is set to stay, but with an enhanced package and even better front row seats to the world’s biggest sporting events.

Though cosmetic changes aren’t the only noticeable difference. With the addition of two new chefs, The Garricks will be the go-to place in the area for traditional pub classics and hearty food, as guests will be able to dine from their new food menu. Featuring classics like beer-battered fish and chips, steak and ale pie and grilled gammon, the Garricks’ new menu boasts dishes to suit every taste, including a bar snack menu of salt and chilli chicken wings, bruschetta and crispy king prawns.

Externally, there will be all-new signage, giving the pub a completely fresh appearance before entering through the doors of the major refurbishment. Most areas will be entirely ripped out to make way for a modern new look, in keeping with the overall theme of the revamped pub, which will offer a fresh, warm, and welcoming atmosphere.

Being the cornerstone of the community is something Dawn prides herself on, which is why the investment and future planned events at the pub have been thoroughly thought out with their guests in mind. Their mammoth relaunch party, scheduled for Friday, the 1st of August, and a weekend celebration with free entry, charity fundraising, food, drinks and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy, is just one of many events that Dawn and the team have lined up this year.

Punch Pubs & Co Operations Manager, Tina Igo, shared her enthusiasm for the pub’s reopening: “We are thrilled to be investing in The Garricks Head. Dawn runs a fantastic pub that has a stellar reputation in the community, and guests are already talking about its comeback. Exciting times await us at this wonderful pub, and we’re excited to bring guests old and new on this journey with us.”

Whilst the pub will remain closed until Wednesday, the 30th of July, Dawn is sharing sneak peeks of the pub’s progress on their social media pages.
