England and Wales: Your rights and responsibilities

The Government introduced the Pubs Code Regulations for all Pub Companies that own more than 500 tied pubs in England and Wales.

It is a set of statutory regulations and exists to protect you, our Publicans, and aims to ensure:

  • Pub Company dealings with their tied pub tenants are lawful.
  • A tied publican is no worse off than a free-of-tie publican.

You can access specific guidance and information for tied pub tenants covered under the Pubs Code on the Government website, here.

The Pubs Code Adjudicator oversees the Pubs Code to ensure compliance with the core principles of the regulations.
