Punch the independent pub operator with its head office in Burton Upon Trent has reached the finals of the Publican Awards for the Best Leased & Tenanted Pub Company 2019.  Punch has 1300 pubs across the UK operated by independent Publicans who welcome customers to their unique pubs every day.  It also employs over 200 people in its offices in the town.  The company will find out if they are crowned the king of pub companies at the prestigious event at Battersea Evolution on the 12th March.

Ed Bedington, editor of the pub industry newspaper The Morning Advertiser, said “These are the most rigorous awards in the industry.  The competition this year has been phenomenally strong and it’s going to be interesting to see who emerges ahead of the pack across some closely fought categories”.

Clive Chesser, CEO for Punch commented, “We are excited to have reached the finals of these highly rated pub industry awards.  I want to thank all the team for all their hard work, commitment and passion for the Great British Pub and all they do to support our pubs and the brilliant people who run them.  Without our team at Burton Upon Trent and our fantastic Publicans we wouldn’t be at the finals and I’m very proud that we’ve got this far.  It is fingers crossed for Tuesday 12th but whatever the result we love pubs and will continue to invest in them”.

Alan Carr will be hosting the event where 2,000 people from the pub and beer industry will gather in anticipation of the awards.
