The Red Lion, a historic riverside pub located at the heart of Winsford, has reopened following a £230K investment by independent pub operators Punch Pubs & Co., with local Publican Doug and the team taking the helm.

Now boasting a rustic look and an inviting atmosphere, this investment has breathed new life into the Red Lion inside and out, enhancing its unique charm and character that locals know and love.

Inside, warm reclaimed timber flooring and impressive wall murals honouring local history are accompanied by deep buttoned furniture in plush reclaimed fabrics. This, along with feature mood lighting and quirky accents, create a cracking place to enjoy an authentic pub experience.

Outside, the investment has taken advantage of the Red Lion’s beautiful waterside location with additional seating overlooking the river. As well as this, the new riverside marquee is the perfect spot for a bite to eat alfresco.

Experienced Publican Doug says, “Reopening this iconic pub and revealing its new look has been an honour. The Red Lion has so much character, and this investment has truly done it justice.

“It’s been great to welcome customers old and new back to the pub, and the continued support and understanding from the community during the opening stages has been overwhelming. We’re looking forward to sharing our exciting future plans with them very soon. We’re so pleased they agree the Red Lion is the place that is, the place to be.”

Punch Pubs & Co’s operations director Neil Dawson says, “We’re thrilled with what our investment here at the Red Lion has created. This is a fantastic venue, and we’re confident that together with Doug and his team, we have reopened with an offer that locals will absolutely love.”

The Red Lion has reopened with a fantastic range of quality cask ales and everyone’s favourite lagers. The real showstopper is the extensive food menu brimming with a delicious mix of pub classics and modern street food. Guests can expect anything from traditional fish and chips to mouth-watering lamb gyros.
