The Garricks Head pub on Moorside Road in Flixton, temporarily closed this July as it underwent a £237,000 investment with leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co.

After weeks of anticipation and build-up on social media, the popular pub reopened with a jam-packed weekend of family fun, fundraising and live entertainment ready to kickstart its new chapter.

Management Partner Dawn Slater, who has been at the helm of the pub since 2018, is thrilled with the changes to her beloved pub and couldn’t wait to welcome her guests back with open arms. She said: “The last week has been a complete whirlwind, it’s been full of excitement and adrenaline, and I’ve loved every second. I’m so grateful to everyone who has supported us during the closure, and returned to see our huge transformation. The positive reviews and complements make it all worthwhile, and I’m looking forward to the future, now more than ever!”.

On first glance, the Garricks Head has been revived with an outdoor refresh which includes all-new signage, and a welcoming beer garden with ample seating for guests to enjoy the full summer agenda that Dawn and the team have prepared.

Inside, the transformation continues with a complete renovation that has refreshed the entire pub. A new colour scheme and aesthetic have been introduced, completed by updated fixtures, fittings and decorative touches. The warm palette of greens has been paired with dark wood seating and flooring, while ambient pendant lighting adds a cosy glow throughout the generously sized space.

Guests will also appreciate the addition of two state-of-the-art darts boards, installed in a dedicated sports zone that offers a quieter space away from the hustle and bustle of the main bar and restaurant. There, guests can enjoy friendly games with friends and family while soaking up the atmosphere of live sports action on the surrounding TV screens.

The transformation to the Garricks Head goes beyond cosmetic changes. A key focus has been reinventing its food offering, and after welcoming two new chefs, the pub has been able to reopen with a brand new menu and enticing deals for the whole community. Guests can now enjoy pub classics such as beer-battered fish and chips, steak and ale pie and gammon for mains, with their new bar snack menu boasting salt and chilli chicken wings, bruschetta and crispy king prawns, along with mid-week offers the whole family can enjoy.

Being at the heart of the community, Dawn has always run a family-friendly and inclusive pub – one where everyone is welcome to join in on celebrations, fundraisers, or simply enjoy time with friends, and that spirit is set to continue. She added: “All activities we held over our opening weekend and relaunch was fully booked, which just shows how much the community is committed to their local. We are one big family at the Garricks; who support each other, look out for each other and celebrate together. We’ve got much more planned for the year, and much more to offer!”

Not only is Dawn and the team thrilled with their pub’s transformation, their guests have also been raving about their new look local, with comments onliness stating: ‘Beautiful!’, ‘Great to see local investment’, ‘What a transformation’, ‘Looks really smart’, and ‘Food was excellent’.

As they look ahead to the future, Dawn and team Garricks have huge plans to entertain the community of Flixton and beyond, and will continue to update their social media and website with future plans.
