The Village Inn in Shaw, Swindon, temporarily closed its doors this week to make way for an exciting four-week, £300k transformation in partnership with leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co.

Reopening on the 30th of September, villagers will notice some stark differences to their local, all served up by new Management Partner Shane Eagles and his family.

Having been guests at the pub for over a decade, the Eagles family are stepping behind the bar to give their beloved local a new lease of life. Shane shared: “The Village Inn is our local, and we love it. But we saw opportunities to make it even better. After a lot of thought, we decided as a family to take the plunge and make it our own.”

It’s a true family affair; Shane will lead the day-to-day operations, supported by his daughter and daughter-in-law’s hospitality experience, and his sons’ flair for sports and media. Together, they’re crafting a welcoming space for everyone in the community.

With a thirst for success, the first step in restoring The Village Inn as the heart of the community has started, as works are underway to transform the village locally. Outside, new signage and a children’s play area are taking shape, whilst inside, the pub is being refreshed with a dedicated sports zone, complete with table football, state-of-the-art darts boards, and plans for weekly quiz nights.

Shane added: “We feel honoured to have the support of our Operations Manager, Mark Leech, on this investment journey, with whom we share the same vision of bringing The Village Inn back to life. The changes are already coming together, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back.”

Mark echoed the enthusiasm, saying: “I’m delighted to be working alongside Shane and his family, their passion for this pub and the community is inspiring! With Punch’s industry-leading investment, support and training, I do not doubt that the Eagles family will make The Village Inn a thriving hub once again. I look forward to joining Shane and the team in welcoming back guests later this month.”

It’s not just the look that’s changing – the pub’s food offering is getting a tasty upgrade too. Guests can look forward to hearty pub favourites like beer-battered fish and chips, mushroom bourguignon pie, and slow-cooked beef lasagne.

Shane concluded: “Our goal is to create a family-friendly, inclusive pub where everyone feels comfortable. Whether you’re joining us to catch up on the latest sporting action, celebrate with loved ones, or pop in for a midweek pint, our doors will be open, and our team will be ready and waiting to welcome guests with a smile.”

With the anticipation of The Village Inn’s reopening, glimpses of the investment works are being shared regularly on the pub’s social media.
