Local staple The Pear Tree Inn pub has reopened after a complete transformation, thanks to a substantial investment by Punch Pubs & Co.

On Monday (8th December), the Pear Tree Inn welcomed guests old and new back through its doors, with experienced hospitality professional Brett Watson-Davies leading its new chapter.

With ambitions to reignite the pub’s spirit and firmly cement the Pear Tree as the beating heart of Mirfield, Brett set his sights on providing a pub that was a family-friendly, inclusive space catering to all tastes.

“I am so proud to be behind the reopening of this fantastic pub,” Brett said. “The community was desperate to see its return, and their excitement has been building throughout the investment process. The pub looks incredible – totally new – with all features enhanced with our bold new aesthetic, and a new team eager to restore the pub’s vibrant spirit.”

The changes to the Pear Tree Inn span every corner of the pub. Homing in on its riverside location, the £400k investment included a complete upgrade to the pub’s garden, which now boasts festoon lighting, new furniture and an improved outdoor bar with a canopy. Sporting fans will also be thrilled with the bespoke outdoor garden screen – perfect for tuning into next year’s World Cup action.

Indoors, the transformation continues with a whole new aesthetic including bold colours, patterned fabrics and feature planting, complemented by decorative lighting, new artwork and bric-a-brac to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. The pub’s food and drink offerings have also been enhanced with an array of options from world lagers and spirits to wines, cocktails and cask ales to be enjoyed alongside their mix of pub classics, bar snacks and small plates.

“The community love what we’ve done with the pub – and I want to say a huge thank you to them for their support and engagement,” Brett continued. “While there are many great pubs locally, none of them matched the spirit here – and with our plans for entertainment, live sport and family-friendly fun, we’re confident that the Pear Tree will be the go-to place in Kirklees.”

With a new face at the helm of the pub comes a whole new Pear Tree team – together, their joint focus is to reconnect with their community by creating a pub that serves everyone.

Punch Pubs & Co Operations Manager, Tony Iles, added: “One of the best parts of my role has always been matching the best pubs with the best people. Brett and his team at the Pear Tree have definitely delivered! I’m incredibly proud of the whole team for their hard work and support while Punch invested in their pub. It’s been a long process, but I’m delighted to share that it has reopened in style – here’s to a successful future.”
