Situated in the heart of Penrith, The Board & Elbow pub temporarily closed this February as it undergoes a £360k investment with leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co.

Over the next four weeks, the popular market town pub will be completely transformed, with full internal and external decorations and a new food and drink offering.

Punch Pubs & Co Operations Manager, Anthony Lover, is excited to be involved in the pub’s transformation. He said: “The Board & Elbow is a fantastic, well-established pub with a loyal following. We look forward to creating a new aesthetic, introducing a new food menu and bar area and forming a family-friendly atmosphere. We’re particularly excited to enhance our Sunday offerings which we’re confident will be popular with the local community and tourists looking to enjoy some downtime in the nearby Lake District.”

The pub as the community knows it will be completely renovated from the inside out, with new fixtures and fittings, upcycled furniture, comfy seating and decorative lighting. The bar will also undergo an exciting upgrade with new displays and shelving to house its extensive range of cask, craft, wine, spirits and softs.

Guests can also expect a bistro-style outdoor area to enjoy as the warmer months approach and an all-new entertainment space with upgraded audio and visuals to host live music every weekend.

Aside from aesthetic changes at the Board & Elbow, a new food offering will launch boasting two meals for £12.99 every Monday, burger and drinks deals, lunch clubs, evening set menus and locally sourced Sunday lunches – expected to be a hit.

Alongside its all-new food menu, there will be a huge focus on the pub’s rhythm of the week with a planned schedule of events, promotions or special offers with an emphasis on being inclusive of the whole community.

The Board & Elbow will remain closed until the investment is complete, but changes to the much-loved pub are being shared with the community and can be followed, via the pub’s social media pages.

The popular pub hopes to reopen and welcome back guests old and new this March.
