We’re looking for a Management Partner who is an experienced food operator. You’ll be the quintessential host who is also confident in delegating to a well-trained and engaging team.
You’ll be adept in all aspects of the business, ensuring consistency right from the kitchen to the cellar. You will have a proven record of managing trade peaks in the summer and executing an internal food offer alongside an external food and drink solution. You’ll become an integral part of the local community. You’ll also be knowledgeable in food and drink and will be proud to deliver excellent training to your staff. The King Alfred’s Head will be a thriving town centre pub with homemade specialities and a friendly, knowledgeable team. It will attract the local clientele by being the best pub in the area, offering a fantastic range of real ales and lagers to ensure it is the first-choice meeting place where the community can come together for all occasions.
The pub and location
The pub sits in the town of Wantage, which is situated 8 and 15 miles southwest of Abingdon and Oxford, respectively. You’ll find it in the Vale of the White Horse within the county of Oxfordshire. It lies at the end of the centre of town.
This beautiful pub consists of a large entrance, two bar areas (100 covers), two function rooms, a large (200 covers) outdoor seated area with external rooms and an external trade bar area. You’ll also find seating at the front of the attractive pub exterior, which benefits from a spacious catering kitchen. We plan extensive refurbishments before reopening.
You’ll take full advantage of the attractive large courtyard area comprising a stretch tent, firepits and external food and drink offers throughout the year. The function room (100 covers) and private dining room will also be able to cater for meetings and events for local social groups and businesses alike. Finally, its relaxed atmosphere and ambience combined with comfortable surroundings will create a haven where guests will flock back regularly.
The accommodation consists of a one-bedroom flat, a kitchen diner and a bathroom.
