We’re looking for a dynamic, business savvy and hard-working operator to take charge of the White Horse, Welwyn – you’ll lead from the front and be the face of the business.

The Pub

The White Horse presents a fantastic opportunity to be centre of the community in the affluent village of Welwyn, close to St Albans.  Combining events including sports with consistent freshly prepared pub food.

The White Horse is a charming village pub, that benefits from both external dining and dining at the front and at the rear, in the large beer garden, complete with outside bar and barbecue area.

You’ll find the White Horse close to the centre of Welwyn, 2 mins drive from the Jct 6 A1.  20mins from St Albans to the south.  Welwyn benefits from both locals and visitors to this picturesque village.

The heart of the pub is the traditional country bar with scrub-topped tables and flagstone floors with a warm cosy snug and an open fire.  Towards the rear garden is a relaxing dining room for thirty covers. The kitchen is located on the ground floor behind the bar, with easy access to pub and garden, food is a significant element of the business, making it the heartbeat of the pub.

The outside space is a huge business asset! There are 80 covers on the front patio area.   The rear garden benefits from over 100 covers on Astro turfed area, with both covered huts and stretch tent used in winter months.  An external Barn has been converted into external bar with draught beer and full range of chilled beers and wine.  There is an impressive barbecue area, located close to the pub kitchen that provides a perfect food offer for those long summer evenings. 

The Person

If you are committed to driving sales and being loved by the community, then the village of Welwyn and picture postcard pub White Horse is for you.

You’ll be a perfectionist, delivering consistently ambitious standards of guest service. You’ll also have the creative mind necessary to flex business needs depending on weather, season, and events. We’re looking for a talented operator with experience in delivering great pub food, someone who puts the guest front and centre of everything they do.

Private accommodation

There is purpose built 1 bedroom publican flat with private bathroom and living room/diner.  Additional accommodation is available for up to 3 live in staff.  These additional 3 rooms could be used by the publican.

About the Agreement

The Punch Management Partnership offers a unique opportunity to run your own pub business, with affordable in-goings and the freedom to lead your own team, manage your business within a framework and support from Punch in a proven partnership model.

You’ll receive an uncapped share of top‑line turnover, giving you the flexibility to pay yourself and your team in a way that works for your business. Your own Ltd Company will provide the day‑to‑day management of the pub, retain full ownership of team and operational decisions, whilst managing associated costs such as wages and minor repairs. Alongside this, you’ll benefit from extensive operational support, including marketing and recruitment within a framework designed to help your business thrive.
