Leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co has added to its growing portfolio with the acquisition of The Cob & Pen, a well-loved pub located in Rhyl.

The pub will join Punch’s Leased and Tenanted estate, with temporary operators stepping in following the departure of its current Publican, Shaun Ketley.

Speaking about the acquisition, Punch Pubs & Co Head of Acquisitions Andrew Cannons commented: “We’re delighted to welcome this fantastic pub into our estate. Shaun and the team have created an excellent, community-driven pub that is well-loved locally. With our industry-leading investment and support, I’m confident that The Cob & Pen will continue to thrive for many years to come.”

Situated in the heart of the seaside town, The Cob & Pen features a spacious bar and garden, as well as a pool table and large screen for live sports. It also offers letting rooms for guests and is conveniently located a short walk from Rhyl’s train and bus station, as well as other local amenities.

Punch Pubs Operations Manager Peter Kilpatrick said: “The Cob & Pen is a fantastic pub, and Shaun is an outstanding operator who has played a key role in building its strong local reputation. Our top priority is to ensure The Cob & Pen continues to thrive as a vibrant, sports-focused pub where both locals and tourists are welcomed.”

Punch is continually on the lookout for more quality acquisitions, including packages and single-site opportunities that align well with its ambition to be the 5-star pub company.
