Leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co has added to its growing portfolio with the acquisition of The Hanlon pub in Birtley.

The town centre pub will join Punch’s Leased and Tenanted estate and is currently looking for a new Publican to lead its next chapter, following the success of former Operator Stevie Davies, who has been at the helm for over 10 years.

Speaking about the acquisition, Punch Pubs & Co Head of Acquisitions Andrew Cannons commented: “The Hanlon is a fantastic community pub, and we’re proud to welcome it into our estate.  Stevie has created an excellent reputation at The Hanlon, and it’s our priority to continue his legacy and see the pub’s continued success for many years to come.”

The traditional pub lies at the centre of the community and offers a wide variety of drinks, from ales and lagers to ciders, wines, and spirits. It is also well known locally for its weekly quizzes and sports teams.

Punch Pubs Operations Manager Jason Moran added: “As a community-driven pub, The Hanlon is an excellent opportunity for a pub passionate publican, who will encourage community cohesion and help support and grow local sports teams. We’re actively recruiting for a new Publican to take the helm and welcome anybody interested in this opportunity to reach out to our recruitment team on 01283 501999.”

Punch is continually seeking additional quality acquisitions, including packages and single-site opportunities that fit with its ambition to be the 5 star pub company.
