Management Partners and team members at The Blue Bell pub in the market town of Yarm are pouring their hearts into a fundraising campaign for Cancer Support UK – blending pubs, pints, and passion for a truly worthy cause.

Since taking over the pub in February, Alison Shaw has brought fresh energy and heartfelt purpose to the venue. Having personally felt the impact of cancer on loved ones, Alison was inspired to lead the charge in raising awareness and funds for those affected.

Together with her husband Matt, who also serves as Head Chef, the couple has committed to a charity parachute jump this October. Their daring leap is just one part of a wider fundraising effort, which includes a series of events and charity nights designed to bring people together for good.

Speaking about the upcoming challenge, Alison said: “Sadly, cancer has touched the lives of many, including those dear to us. We’ve witnessed the struggles and heartaches faced by family members battling this relentless disease. But in the midst of that darkness, organisations like Cancer Support UK shine a light of hope.

“We’re lucky to be part of such a generous and close-knit community here in Yarm. People always show up for one another, and with their help, we want to ensure no one faces their cancer journey alone.

“Pubs are the beating heart of their communities, and we’re proud to welcome wonderful guests through our doors every day – and now, we’re asking them to join us in making a difference.”

Before their big sky-dive on the 12th of October, team Blue Bell will host a range of events, including a charity quiz night on Sunday, the 5th of October, and a tombola featuring generous donations as gifts from local businesses.

Their goal – to raise as much as possible for a cause that touches so many lives – and they’re calling on the community to help make it happen.
