The Bramford Cock pub in Ipswich has spread its wings once again, following a £480,000 investment that has breathed new life into the much‑loved village local – restoring it firmly to the heart of the community.
After temporarily closing in April, the Bramford Cock has turned the page and started an exciting new chapter, thanks to a significant investment from leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co.
The transformation was all about putting the pub back together for its locals – creating a warm, welcoming, family-oriented destination that the whole village can be proud of.
Led by experienced industry professional and new Management Partner Jenny Blake, the vision for the pub was clear: to be a brilliant village local offering outstanding food, friendly service and a great atmosphere, seven days a week.
“The refurb has exceeded all of my expectations,” Jenny said. “It is absolutely stunning, from the décor to the bric-a-brac and the thought that has gone into every detail. Everyone who walks in is amazed by the transformation. The conservatory, now the orangery, is completely unrecognisable, and the whole place has been beautifully restored and incredibly well received.
“As for the locals, we’ve had an overwhelming outpouring of support from the village. We’ve been so busy over the last few days, with so many people saying they feel like they’ve finally got their pub back – the pub they always wanted – and that it looks absolutely beautiful.
“I just hope that, going forward, we continue to make Bramford proud and enjoy many happy years here. We’re looking to introduce more entertainment and community activities and really become part of village life. We’re also sponsoring a local charity – there’s lots more to come from our pub this year and beyond.”
The investment has seen thoughtful upgrades throughout the pub, carefully balancing comfort, character and charm. Inside, guests will notice updates across its three dining areas and conservatory, which have all been refreshed with new blinds, framed artwork and pendant lighting, as well as re‑upholstered fixed seating, soft furnishings and a brand‑new timber floor.
Outside, the pub’s much‑loved spaces have received a glow‑up, too. Fairy lights now adorn the revamped pergola, complemented by trellis with climbing plants, timber planters and potted greenery – creating a relaxed and welcoming setting for sunnier days, while new external signage has proudly marked the change.
Much to the delight of guests, a new menu has also underpinned the pub’s renewed offer, with comforting classics and crowd‑pleasers firmly on the agenda – including traditional roast dinners every Sunday, the new offering is perfect for bringing families together.
Jenny and the team have also introduced a strong rhythm of the week – a jam-packed entertainment schedule designed to help them reconnect with the village and surrounding areas. Expect bank holiday celebrations, acoustic music sessions, and popular tribute acts, alongside relaxed everyday occasions that make the pub a natural part of local life again.
Punch Pubs & Co Operations Manager, Phil Lee-Ashby, said: “This investment marks more than just a refurbishment – it’s a genuine commitment to the future of a fantastic village pub.
“The Bramford Cock has always been an important part of Bramford. This investment has given us the chance to do it justice again – restoring it, respecting its history and building a brilliant future at the heart of the community.”
As the team have proudly begun their new journey, they are busy welcoming members of the village into their refurbished pub, looking forward to many successful years at the heart of the community.
