The Duke of Wellington pub in Ince, Chester, has relaunched following our £80,000 investment.

New Publican, Shelley Deegan and her extended family have taken the helm and have lots of plans to create an epic community pub for all to enjoy.

The pub has benefited from a full external and internal redecoration with all new signage, flooring, lighting and soft furnishing throughout.  The investment has breathed new life into the pub, creating a traditional, but, modern look and feel.

The Duke of Wellington sits at the heart of the beautiful village of Ince, in Chester, and is a near to the Ince Marshes, a popular destination for visitors to the area.

Shelley is local to the area having lived nearby in Elton for the last 20 years. She is passionate about creating experiences for customers and together with her husband Neil, and four children, Marley, Zoe, Kandi and Roxy, and plans to ensure the Duke of Wellington becomes the beating heart of the community.

Shelley says ‘’As soon as I saw the Duke of Wellington, I fell in love with it. Working with Punch has been really easy, and the investment has done the pub proud. I have a great team here and love being able to work with my family. We have some exciting plans for the future creating a true community pub that customers enjoy all day, every day.’’

The Duke of Wellington now offers quality cask, craft and world beers together with an extensive gin and premium spirit range. The newly introduced food menu uses locally sourced products. The award winning, ‘Hayrack Butchery’ steak pie and homemade chips is already proving to be a favourite with guests.

The pub will be home to a variety of traditional pub activities including monthly live entertainment, karaoke, bingo and a pub quiz. Shelley has also introduced a ‘Good Morning Club’, welcoming local pensioners in for the morning to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee amongst friends. Saturdays will be a day for families to come together and enjoy time together eating good food and playing family games and quizzes.

Punch Development Manager, Rob Saffer says, ‘’The Duke of Wellington is a fantastic pub and we are really pleased with the new look created. With Shelley at the helm we are confident that The Duke of Wellington will continue to go from strength to strength operating at the very heart of the community it serves’’

Punch owns and operates 1300 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales and is investing £32 million in its pub estate in the next year with the right Publicans running their pubs.
