Anticipation is building for the grand reopening of The Lochside pub, which temporarily closed in August to undergo a £115,000 investment with Punch Pubs & Co.
The beloved community pub is not only getting a fresh new look, but also welcoming new Management Partners, Vicki McEvoy and Kane Holford, a dynamic hospitality duo with a wealth of experience in both front-of-house and kitchen operations. Their combined expertise promises to deliver a winning formula that will ensure The Lochside continues to thrive at the heart of its community.
Having been closed for four weeks whilst the transformation takes place, updates have been well documented on The Lochside’s Facebook page, with locals already raving about their new-look local.
The renovation spans the entire pub, introducing warm tones, feature wallpapers, and patterned blinds that add character and charm. Brass pendants and ambient lighting complete the look, creating a welcoming atmosphere reflecting The Lochside’s community spirit.
Speaking about the transformation, Vicki said: “We’re thrilled to be apart of the new venture at this fantastic community pub. For us, it’s all about making The Lochside the heart of the community. We want to bring everyone together in a space that’s warm, welcoming and inclusive for everyone.
“The transformation looks amazing, and we’re so excited to proudly show off the changes and hear our guests’ thoughts too. Everything’s going really well and to plan, so now it’s just a matter of getting our guests back through the door – and we can’t wait!”
Renowned for its live sports offering, The Lochside has enhanced its entertainment features with the addition of a dedicated sports zone. This new area includes a sports bar and raised section with a pool table, darts boards, and a striking tribute wall celebrating ‘The Magpies’ – Newcastle United Football Club. Adorned with football memorabilia, the wall is sure to be a hit with football fanatics. And with a 90-inch screen TV, fans can enjoy an immersive viewing experience as the Premier League season kicks off.
Beyond sports and entertainment, Vicki, Kane and the team are committed to keeping The Lochside a family-friendly destination. The newly refreshed lounge area will offer a peaceful escape from the buzz of sports, providing a cosy, dining and social space for all.
Vicki added: “The new look and feel to the pub will be loved by all our guests, I’m sure. It’s a much better, brighter space that sparks a new chapter. I want to say a huge thank you to our team, who’ve been instrumental in helping us to pull everything together, here’s to a successful reopening!”
The transformation at The Lochside isn’t just cosmetic. A brand-new food menu has been curated, featuring traditional pub favourites like beer-battered fish and chips, hearty sausage and mash, and an all-day breakfast. Lighter options include lunch deals and small bites such as BLT sandwiches and Southern-fried chicken wraps – ensuring there’s a dish for every guest’s taste.
As a cornerstone of the local community, Vicki and Kane are passionate about ensuring The Lochside continues to inspire those moments. Four-legged friends are welcome too — the pub’s new ‘doggie station’ complements its fresh new look, crowd-pleasing menu, and welcoming atmosphere. Excited to embark on this new chapter, the duo is looking forward to reopening the doors and welcoming guests back to their revitalised local.
