The Robin Hood pub nestled in the heart of Sutton town has two new Publicans at the helm who are hoping to offer the perfect drink, decadent pub classics and a mix of local and international entertainment.

Steve and Claire Read are no strangers to the hospitality industry, having ran several pubs together and growing up within the environment, running a great pub and being behind the bar is second nature to them.

Steve was just nine years old when he pulled his first pint and has always been keen for his family to follow in his footsteps, which is why two of their seven children will be joining them at The Robin Hood to embark on their newest venture.

Making the move from Manchester to Sutton, the Read family have already enjoyed their first few weeks of trading, welcoming guests old and new, and are keen to embed themselves within the local community.

Steve said: “This first few weeks have been great; The Robin Hood is a great pub and the community have been so welcoming. For us it’s all about the community, getting people in, having a laugh, and making people feel comfortable.”

With an impressive menu of bar snacks, lunch bites and decadent pub classics from baked camembert and Asian pork belly bites to crispy katsu bonbons, The Robin Hood’s food offerings are destined to be a hit alongside their extensive behind the bar range including cask and craft ales, cocktails, wines and spirts.

Guests can also expect to soak up the Summer sun in the pub’s generous outdoor space which Steve plans to enhance with a supersized outdoor screen fit for global and national sporting events, in addition to two indoor screens for when the classic British weather decides to take a turn.

An advocate for the community and making people feel welcome, Steve is enthusiastic to showcase local talent, so alongside their karaoke evenings, a rock n roll bingo and live music acts, Steve would also like to encourage local artists to get involved and display their talents too.

His friendship with the popular Portuguese artist Nuno Ess, is also likely to be a hit, with the musician already secured for December to entertain guests over the festive period.

“Nuno is a fantastic entertainer and as a family, we’ve been going out to Portugal to see him play for years,” Steve said. “He has a superb following and I know that the locals will love him. He plays for up to 30,000 guests weekly, and we’ve had people from Scotland travel down to our old pub in Manchester so I’ve no doubt that Nuno will host an incredible night here at The Robin Hood.”

Having already been blown away by the positive feedback so far, Steve and his family are excited to see what the future holds for them at their new home in Sutton and are fully supported by their Punch Pubs & Co Operations Manager, Ryan Bridge.

Ryan said: “Steve and Claire run a great pub and I’m excited to be working alongside them at The Robin Hood. I’m looking forward to supporting them with their plans and I’m hopeful that they will have many successful years down here in Sutton.”

This July, Steve and wife Claire will be hosting a Welcome Party at the pub to meet their new neighbours and show off all that the Robin Hood has to offer. It will take place on Saturday 29th of July from 5pm to 1am with live entertainment, a complimentary glass of bubbly and canapes from their nibbles menu for the first 60 guests. They will also be trialling their new pizza menu throughout the evening and more information can be found across their socials.
