Bear Bars has taken on their third pub with Punch, the Bear Bar & Kitchen, formerly the Ship Inn in Wadebridge and re-opened the site following a £197,000 refurbishment.

The pub which dates back to 1700s has received a transformation to create the new look Bear Bar & Kitchen similar to their other popular Bear Bars in Truro and St Agnes.  The renovation has retained many of the original features in the pub alongside a new stylish and relaxed feel.  The pub has two new alfresco eating and drinking areas with lighting, heating and soft furnishings and received a complete internal and external redecoration.

Speaking about the re-opening, managing director for Punch, Andy Spencer said, “This is the third pub that Bear Bars have taken with us.  By matching pubs with great people like Craig and Carol of Bear Bars we can develop fantastic pubs together. We are looking forward to seeing the Bear Bar & Kitchen in Wadebridge becoming an important addition to their business and a great place to go for the area”.

Craig Burnett of Bear Bars said, “We are really excited about the Bear Bar & Kitchen in Wadebridge.  We have launched our renowned food menu that’s made up from modern pub dishes such as gourmet burgers, our posh steak kebabs and vegan and vegetarian options plus our drinks range now includes our very own cask ale, Bear Bar Beer as well as our premium cocktails and craft beers”.

The investment is part £30 million being invested by Punch this year in their pub estate.  Bear Bars are multiple pub operators led by Craig Burnett and Carol O’Hanlon.  They have three pubs currently with Punch and won the Muddy Stilettos Cornwall Best Bar award in 2017 and reached the finals of the food Magazine Reader Awards 2019 for Best Foodie Pub (St Agnes).
