The Fox pub in the village of Bar Hill, Cambridge, has temporarily closed its doors to make way for a mammoth £272,000 investment by leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co.
The beloved community pub, which closed on Monday, the 16th of June, is undergoing a complete makeover under the guidance of new and experienced Management Partner Sharron Wills.
Sharron, who has run multiple pubs across the country, was immediately drawn to the Fox’s vast potential. She said: “When I stepped into the Fox for the first time, I instantly felt at home. It’s a fantastic pub that sits right at the heart of the community, and I’m making it my mission to ensure that the whole community feel welcome and accepted there.
“I’ve got huge plans that will draw in both old and new guests, but I want them to know that I’m open to their suggestions too, because at the end of the day, it is all about the customer. I’m excited to meet my locals and understand what they would like to see. Together, we’ll create a buzz – The Fox is reopening and it’s coming back with a bang!”
Sharron’s ambition is to ensure the pub becomes a vibrant hub for locals, and whilst she will be front and centre, its transformation is set to do the talking for itself as it undergoes a complete makeover inside and out.
Externally, the Fox will be refreshed with new signage and a children’s playground, making it an inviting destination for families. Inside, the pub will feature a distinct sports zone, complete with a pool table and a dedicated darts area. The combination of tables and stools will create a relaxed space ideal for sporting events or casual socialising, while the aesthetic will blend traditional elements with warm timber finishes and contemporary leather accents.
The dining area will also be renovated to create a warm and homely atmosphere suitable for everyday family meals, larger group gatherings, or community functions. Its new look will feature a mix of seating options, new fixtures and fittings, and cosy lighting.
Guests can also look forward to an all-new menu, where they will indulge in traditional pub classics, pizzas and lunches to suit every taste.
It’s not just aesthetic changes that locals have to look forward to, as part of Sharron’s big plans for the Fox, entertainment will also play a significant role with weekend live entertainment, pool and darts teams, as well as regular family-friendly and community-driven events taking place.
As anticipation builds for the Fox’s reopening mid-July, Sharron is eager to expand her team and is actively recruiting new members of staff to join her. More details of how and where to apply can be found on the pub’s social media pages, where updates of the exciting renovation are also being shared.
With its grand reopening in mid-July, The Fox is poised to become a lively and welcoming space for all.
