After weeks of anticipation, the iconic Blue Boar pub in the market town of Ludlow has welcomed guests once again, following a transformative investment by Punch Pubs & Co.
The beloved Grade II listed pub, which was reopened to the community by local Mayor Diane Lyle on Tuesday, 21st of October, bears a striking new look.
Having been carefully restored, the Blue Boar’s transformation has preserved its authentic character and charm, while being sustainably developed and rooted in integrity.
Punch Pubs & Co Operations Manager, Tony Riley, said: “We’re delighted to have reopened this iconic pub and welcome back the Ludlow community. We are thrilled with the investment that has given this much-loved pub a fresh twist that honours its heritage and embraces its future – and I’m pleased to say it looks fantastic!
“As a business, we’re committed to ensuring our pubs thrive at the heart of their communities, inspiring those moments for every guest that walks through the door. I’m confident the Blue Boar will continue to do just that. I’m excited to relaunch alongside Management Partners Helena Griffiths and Mark Tilston, who will lead the new team with passion and purpose, before our long-term MP takes to the helm this November. Together, we’re ready to guide the Blue Boar towards a five star future.”
Every corner of the pub has been thoughtfully designed to tell the story of the 17th century, from materials and colour schemes to furniture and accessories. Each room pays homage to Ludlow’s medieval heritage, including a striking feature backboard, painted metal signs depicting market square scenes and old traders’ signage.
Furniture has been reclaimed, and decorative light fittings have been sourced second-hand or antique. The artwork that adorns the wall and the bric-a-brac which complements it, have been inspired by Ludlow’s market, castle and tavern heritage, and the upholstery has also been sourced sustainably.
The investment continues outdoors with a secret urban pub garden designed for relaxed drinking and dining, and features antique planters and cluster pots alongside pallet bench seating, all set beneath a pergola frame illuminated by reclaimed copper and brass pendant lights to create a soft, ambient glow.
The reopening of the Blue Boar has already drawn glowing reviews, with guests praising their new local and its passionate new management partners – Helena Griffiths and Mark Tilston.
