The Golden Cock in Farnley Tyas is set to welcome guests back through its doors this weekend following a five-week closure and mammoth £500k refurbishment.

The investment, by leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co, has focused on enhancing the pub’s reputation as one of the area’s most loved food-led pubs. The major transformation has completely refreshed the pub’s interiors while preserving the warm, traditional character that long-time guests value.

With final touches now underway Management Partner Ben Rosson said the team is excited for the community to experience the pub’s next chapter: “The Golden Cock is a much-looked-forward-to refurb of a beloved local and destination for great pub food throughout Huddersfield.

“Close to the Castle Hill monument, and a beautiful, popular walking route, we can’t wait to welcome our regulars back and to serve the best Sunday roast and pies alongside our great ales and wine selection.”

The most striking changes can be found in the extended dining area, which now opens onto a new terrace – complete with fresh lighting, stylish furniture, a retractable awning and carefully curated border planting. The result boasts a flexible, all-year-round space for casual socialising, dining and celebrations.

Inside, the pub’s bar area has undergone a significant remodel. New pendant lighting creates a welcoming focal point, while a blend of new artwork and bric-a-brac adds personality and depth. A muted palette of browns and greens brings warmth to the refreshed décor, bringing a whole new aesthetic for guests to love.

Where possible, existing furniture has been restored and complemented by new pieces, decorative lighting, patterned blinds, rugs and updated furnishings throughout the dining areas.

While inside has undergone a major refresh, the external investment has re-energised the pub’s existing beer garden – which is already a popular spot with guests – through upgraded flooring, new planting and improved seating zones. The ambition is to make the outdoor space an attractive all-season hotspot for both regular guests and walkers exploring the nearby countryside.

With a brand-new kitchen, improved facilities and expanded space inside and out, Ben and the team are excited to continue creating a go-to favourite destination for quality food, drink and community connection.

Reopening this weekend, the team cannot wait to raise a glass with guests old and new and welcome the community back through their doors once again.

More information about the pub’s reopening can be found on their website and social media pages.
