The Oak Tree Inn in Middleton St George has officially reopened, welcoming the community back through its doors following a significant £415k investment from leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co.

After being closed for a considerable period, the much‑loved local has generated excitement across the village, with regular progress updates shared on the pub’s Facebook page sparking strong local interest and anticipation ahead of its relaunch.

The extensive investment, which has been carefully designed to restore the Oak Tree Inn to its warm, countryside roots and re‑establish it as a thriving hub for families, friends and the wider community, has embraced a refreshed look balancing traditional character with modern comfort.

Punch Pubs & Co Operations Manager, Julie Richardson, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have reopened the Oak Tree Inn and finally welcome the community back. Seeing the reaction to our Facebook updates has been fantastic and shows just how much this pub means locally. This investment will transform the Oak Tree Inn into a stylish, welcoming country pub that the whole village can be proud of, for many years to come.”

The transformation has focused on restoring the building’s character while enhancing its dining and social spaces and rejuvenating its outdoor areas. Inside, guests will discover a relaxed countryside‑inn feel, with exposed wooden beams where possible, soft furnishings and a warm, inviting atmosphere throughout. A new log burner now forms a cosy focal point for the colder months, complemented by a contemporary décor scheme featuring timeless furniture, new tables, chairs and rugs.

Externally, the pub’s outdoor space has been completely redesigned, offering a mix of seating, planters and festoon lighting that creates the perfect backdrop for alfresco drinks and dining during the warmer months.

But while aesthetic changes will be an initial ‘wow’ moment, at the heart of the Oak Tree Inn’s renewed offer will be its brand‑new menu, showcasing quality Sunday lunches, seasonal dishes and decadent pub classics. Food and drink will be supported by a calendar of community‑focused and family‑friendly events, helping to cement the pub’s role as the beating heart of Middleton St George once again.

Although the physical transformation is now complete, the leading pub co continues to search for long‑term Management Partners to lead it into its next chapter. The opportunity remains open for hospitality professionals who share the vision of building a welcoming, community‑driven pub with lasting local appeal.

Anyone interested in joining the Oak Tree Inn’s journey is encouraged to get in touch with Punch’s recruitment team by contacting recruitment@punchpubs.com.
