The Mains of Scotstown pub, located on Jesmond Square in Aberdeen, is reopening under the helm of experienced pub operators Richard and Jess.

A converted granite farmhouse, the picturesque pub has been taken over by Aspire Hospitality. It will be ran by skilled hospitality stars Richard and Jess who combined, have almost three decades of experience in the trade, and alongside the Mains of Scotstown run the successful Thistle Inn in Ayrshire.

Bowled away by the pub’s size, history and beauty, Richard says that as soon as he and Jess visited the site, they new they had to have it. He said: “Our ethos at Aspire Hospitality centres around family dining and value for money. We saw the open opportunity here and could immediately see our vision.

“Not only is the Mains of Scotstown a beautiful pub in a scenic location, but it also perfectly complements our brand and as Jess is familiar with the area, it was a no-brainer for the both of us that it would be our perfect second venture.”

Seizing the opportunity, Richard and Jess immediately set to work in putting the Mains of Scotstown back on the map.

Richard continued: “We want our locals to fall in love with the pub again and we want to make it the perfect destination venue. I’ve been a chef for the last 25 years and I’ve worked in some fantastic places with fantastic employers, I’m looking to bring those skills to the Mains of Scotstown and combined with Jess’ expertise in front of house management, our aim is to deliver an unforgettable and quality guest experience.”

Richard and Jess are rebuilding the pub’s reputation centred around a quality, but affordable family food offer with ‘specials’ and a rhythm of the week including their Wednesday Curry night, Thursday Steak Night and Fish & Chip Fridays. Richard said: “Our food menu is the same across both our venues, it’s tried and tested and based around value for money – that’s what we’re all about, and we promise to deliver consistent service too.”

Guests will also be able to take advantage of the pub’s large outdoor space and sports offerings, particularly throughout the Euros, where matches will be shown, and guests can enjoy games of pool or darts with complimentary Scotch pies offered to guests across the tournament.

Richard and Jess are also keen to mentor hospitality’s next big stars and are encouraging anybody who wants to learn more about the industry to reach out to them. They have recently been conducting interviews for additional front of house and kitchen staff and are looking to employee approximately 20 new team members.

Moving forwards, Richard and Jess’ priority is to ensure that locals and visiting guests can trust in the Mains of Scotstown to deliver an exceptional service and guest experience within a beautiful setting. They are hoping that news of the pubs reopening will be welcomed by the local community and are excited to rebuild its former reputation.
